BELLEVUE SCHOOL DISTRICT AND RENTON SCHOOL DISTRICT SWIMMERS
NEED YOUR HELP

Even if you do not live in these districts, it is important to keep all swim programs active. If one district cuts their program, others will follow.

BELLEVUE SCHOOL DISTRICT CONSIDERS CUTTING BOYS AND GIRLS SWIM AND DIVE PROGRAMS

On Thursday, March 11th, the Bellevue School District held the first of three community information meetings to discuss the district budget reductions for 2010. One possible reduction to the budget is the elimination of the boys and girls swim and dive programs at the high school. This would only provide a savings of $70,000 in the potential cuts of $6 million.

HOW CAN YOU HELP – Let your voice be heard
Attend the next two information meetings:

Thursday, March 18th, 5-7pm at the Sammamish High School Library
Wednesday, March 24th, 6-8pm at the Interlake High School Library

Let the district know that there are faces to go with their numbers. Athletes and supporters should wear their letter jacket, team t-shirts, etc; something to show their support of swimming.

Write the School Board Members

Remind them that-

Not all learning takes place in the classroom; swimmers are dedicated and committed students
Swimming is a no cut sport; all athletes have a chance for success as they try to achieve “Personal Bests”
Athletics provide another venue for achievement and excellence
Swimming is a lifelong sport
